Don't make me think, I'm confused.
Enlighten me, I never refused.
I'm not seeking the holy grail.
At least get me some joyous thrill.
What am I doing on this earth?
Toggling between birth and death.
Would a warrior fight with bugs?
Daily doing the same old tricks.
Before the fate stops my breath,
Is there anything I would unearth?
Should I chase the glory and fame?
or would I stay dormant and tame?
Don't make me think, I'm confused.

Good poem. Now i m also confused after reading this :(
"... What am I doing on this earth?
Toggling between birth and death. ..."
Kind of well used and probably not understood by the author very well ;)
Its by our karma / action by which the choice is made by us whether we decide to shuffle/toggle/switch over between birth and death or death and birth in this infinite series.
( There is a difference between birth and death / death and birth )
Nobody forces us to look for that pattern. It is us ( yes, its US ) who force ourself for such a pattern.
We got to decide between extending it as infinite series or approximating it to make a finite series
Mad, If our Karma/action decides our birth and death, then why were we born on this earth at the first place(The very first time when we had not accumulated any Karma)? My question is "How was the infinite series started"?
I would call this as misunderstood spirituality. I have seen a lot of people talking about Karma. But I have always wondered what they actually mean or comprehend when they mention about Karma. What ppl think might depend upon what they perceive or what they have heard or what they read in scriptures. But there is a difference between experiencing, expressing and comprehending. When someone has expressed something, until and unless you experience what he/she had experienced, you can't comprehend the expressed subject exactly. So what ppl think of Karma, the infinite and finite series, birth and death might be very naive and useless, unless they are experiencing the same experience when the concept was conceived.
BTW thanks for giving a new dimension to my lines :-) My context was totally different from what you have comprehended.
"... why were we born on this earth at the first place ... ?"
- Thats a question for the height of secrecy for which even the very great sages of the universe can't answer. Even if GOD answers for this we poor human beings can't understand this. So, don't worry about that :)
"... The very first time when we had not accumulated any Karma ..." - Well this is the first question from NORMAL human beings about pondering over the first element of the infinite series. I don't have a proof to show you but don't ever think of first or last when it comes to these birth/death or spiritual constituents
"... What ppl think might depend upon what they perceive or what they have heard or what they read in scriptures... " - That is the level upto which human beings can think about, I repeat we are NOT THAT INTELLIGENT and really we are THAT DUMB, which we would resist to accept. Certain things we have to accept and we can almost never understand about that.
Quite a late reply, but if we consider the infinite series this is not late at all...
There is a difference between something which we can't understand and something which we don't know. Not knowing something doesn’t mean that we won’t be able to understand that. Even people, who consider them to be spiritually very knowledgeable, tell you that you can’t understand certain things because they themselves don’t know the exact answers for these questions. The answer to these questions might be very simple, but the only thing is that we don’t where and how to get it. We just need the right perspective and right direction to know some obscure spiritual truths.
BTW one question Mad, if you don’t even know about something, how can you be so sure that you can’t understand it? Actually speaking, all the words like Karma, paap and punya have become some fancy words used to show that people are spiritually knowledgeable. Sometimes these words are used even by some spiritually qualified (???) people to escape from answering certain abstruse questions.
The kind of spirituality which we are following these days is equivalent to drawing a circle around us and staying within the circle just because our forefathers or others did, without knowing why we are doing so. We are giving more importance to symbols and customs rather that finding out what they mean. The inner meanings of them might be something different. We have deviated a long way from the truth just by holding on to customs and not bothering to know what they mean, if they actually mean some thing :-)
Dude, start thinking out of the box. Who knows, you many find the Holy grail very soon.
